Yoshinoya Terminal 21 - example of a growing malaise

Warning : another rant . Admire the bowl and move on if you don't like reading such posts.

No one at the entrance. They look at us from inside without budging. They're disinterested in customers. We're such a bother they have to put up with. The menus are deposited in a most nonchalant manner that I'm beginning to wonder if these are really Thais or exploited cross border immigrant workers.

This is the thing that's not so good about Terminal 21 . Yes , this attitude is widespread. Staff that wish you would disappear, so they can get back to whatever it is that they were doing . You know the type. We have them in Malaysia too. They avoid eye contact, they look away and stay away until you almost have to beg them to serve you.
Either the masses tire them out / they're underpaid / they're born this way / bad management. Can't go on like this. The complex has got everything going for it.
Even if you walk into spanking Gaysorn Plaza in slippers , you don't get the cold shoulder treatment . Not so here.

A type of behaviour that one might overlook if the food was so good. Alas no.
The salmon gave me a headache. Not fresh. Stinking.
The Yakiniku Beef Bowl with the vegies was not bad. However, I was flatly disappointed because the rice was not steaming hot. Part of Yoshinoya's appeal lies in the hot bowl of rice which should let off enough steam to burn your nostrils when you stir it with your chopsticks a little. Very therapeutic to the Oriental soul. Never mind that , there were only 2 tables ....us and another yet they still left this out until I reminded them. Real "tidak apa " one kind of attitude.

The tiny morsels of fried chicken on the bed of shredded cabbage didn't look appetizing to begin with . Turned out to be very tasty actually. Miso was pleasant enough.
Signature Beef Bowl dish. Not enough sauce. Very bland tasting beef slices. I should have walked out.
The onions were nice though .
Don't just don't. Or you'll think the rest of us who are big fans of their outlets in Japan have gone loco.
