and reemerged delighted after unexpectedly finding these 2 lovely net bags .

Mix and match experiment - what goes with what

Because I purchase my clothes off the rack , my choice of accessories and shoes are what's gonna set me apart from another person whom I may bump into on the street wearing the exact same outfit !

However , since my memory is just so bad , this mix and match post is for my personal reference , but you're welcome to looksee through my mix and match experiments if you like .

Starting off with 3 outfits first , will add on if and when I feel like it ( maybe even never  ! ) .
The rest are non matching accessories which I intend to pair together , some of which I made myself , especially when it comes to simple earrings .

Join 2 necklaces into 1 with

Found a very lovely looking flower necklace at Daiso yesterday .

After I removed it from the pack and put it round my neck , I found it too short for my liking , thus I strapped it round my wrist and walked around a bit before I went back and purchased a second piece .

A Daiso winter

Regular Daiso customers know one thing . That is winter is soon approaching and here are some essential supplies you might need to ready yourself for it

# 1 . Hand and Body Warmer

Update : Does not work for below zero . The heat is very slight and minimal and it takes a long time to build up .

Never used this before .
Yet I'm gonna give it a try .
It's a little early however I'm snapping 2 packets up before it totally disappears from the shelves and then I'd have to go loco going from store to store searching for it .

Fake Maison Clement - 5 differences between that and Daiso ' s

The Maison Clement range from Daiso is so famous , there's now a fake range available too !
Priced at half of what it costs in a Malaysian Daiso outlet , let's say you are a first time buyer who got it from an online seller and want the real deal instead of the copy , you might want to take your container out and check out the differences between the two .

1 . Edges
Fake : slightly sharper around the edges and you might get your fingers cut , if you hold the edges a bit too fast
Real : no such problem

2. Colour tone
Fake : more pink
Real : lighter

Daiso - new Hello Kitty range

Singapore was the first country , to start selling these new items in the South East Asian region . While I was indeed , extremely tempted to fly down to the republic cos the sight of these items being snapped up like hot cakes made me so geram ..... I'm pleased as punch to report that this much awaited range has finally hit our stores .

Here's a list of what products you should look for

1. Shampoo hair brush

Daiso - Cats from there , Owls from here

For the sake of getting this collection , I was determined to hunt down the local outlet on Day 1 of my arrival , just to scoop these precious babies up .
They survived all the hotels I checked into and eventual connecting flights and journeyed all the way home....intact , with not a corner chipped .

It was impervious to get them in L.A. as NYC does not have any outlet yet ( closest is Washington D.C. ) and Tokyo is just known for the Sanrio and My Melody collection .

Maybe one day , they will head to our shores ....

...just like this Owl set which was originally spotted in Seoul , Korea .

Progess of my crockery hunt so far

Each time I walk into the store , I end up picking yet another piece . Next thing you know ,  find myself having to go through my pictures to compare the sizes .

It has now come to a time where I need to take stock of the sets I have managed to piece together from various stores .
I know some of you love this just as much as I do .....the hunt , the find , as well as the feeling of elation when you spot a new piece lol , no matter how dumb or wasteful it seems to others , we kindred spirits are infectious and we practically feed each other in our quiet quest to possess the next one or to have what she's having yeah ?

Ok here goes

1. The tri coloured sakura series . Made in Japan .
Found 4 pieces so far

2. This two tone sakura collection .
Made in Japan also .
2 pieces .

3. More sakura designs .
Also Made in Japan .
4 pieces.

4. The two toned cosmos series .
3 pieces .
I think there are smaller plates . Might want to add on but not at this moment .

5. The maple leaf series .
4 completely different sizes !
Girls , keep hunting I tell you !

6. New . Oh boy . Oops I mean oh no .
Night jasmine series . Totally made in China .
5 pieces .

7 . Blue Chrysanthemum series .
4 pieces .

8. Minoyaki series .
Black with silver specks .
Made in Japan .

On another note , the exchanges between Tall Boy and muah are getting more and more odd . So odd that Specky grins at both of us with his mouth wide open .
While it's very obvious that we both have a mutual liking for one another , I do hope he eventually finds someone else to channel his charms on .
Yes , I really mean it .

Daiso foodstuff

I love Japanese food but the prices at dine ins , are getting a bit too much to swallow nowadays  .
When I first started getting these ingredients to experiment with ( so that's what I've been up to ) and saw the eventual results ....gosh , you know what ?
I realised , they just made simple Japanese food , so darned easy to whip up !

I'll kick off by just labelling some of these foodstuffs . You can google them or check back when I feel like adding more details later on.

1. Bonito flakes .

Mold and cookie shape cutter logic

Around 2 weeks back , there was this public exchange between a couple . The girl went gaga over the cake scrapers but
when her boyfriend reminded her that he'd bought her many scrapers already , she dragged him to the next aisle and gave him such a good sounding , even I got scared .

Men and Women vs Practicality and Absolute Neccessity in Daiso . Daiso always comes out on top . Common sense out the window . Applies to muah as well I guess .

Anyway , here's my cache of I-must-have-it molds and cutters so far .

1 . Tofu imprints .

We need it because we never thought of imprinting our tofus with a cartoon face. Plus we can finally use that soy sauce spray bottle so the instant the dark sauce settles into the crevices , the imprint becomes clearer .

2. Sausage shape cutters .

Thought I needed it when I first bought it because which person can refuse serving a smiling sausage on a plate ?
( one of the worst don't work things I've bought in Daiso but shhhh let's keep this strictly between me and you )

3. Cheese , seaweed and ham shape cutters .
Needed because some punches don't work . And there's one that's pink .

4. Sandwich mold .

Love this . Keeps messy stuff like sardine sandwiches sealed tight .
Very much needed . Why ever did I put up with spills and messy leaking sandwiches before this ?

Pig face mold . Bought from Bangkok .
Not from Daiso .

5. Sushi molds .

Some are not from Daiso but I can't remember which ones they are .
All needed . Because you will sometimes have leftover rice and they come in a variety of shapes you can compress leftover rice into .
( what skewed logic )

New item . Also made in Japan .
Love this . Have used it a couple of times so far with extremely good results

6. Cookie cutters ....

....Rabbit &  Sheep .
Because they're both standing up .
And that's a really sweet shade of purple .

....Bears .
Because that's so cute . Besides , there are 3 sizes and they nest together so cutely . Also it looks as if it's saying " Roar " in a cute way .

....Paw Print .
Of course we need a Paw Print .
You've got 3 bears on top , you need the paw to prove it .

....Sakura cutters of various sizes .
Because they're made in Japan.
Sheesh . And we like everything that has the Made in Japan label on it . Gosh .

Old one which makes its appearance ever so often .
Dog , cat and squirrel silhoutte .

Cat and Hedgehog

7 . Quails egg molds . Made in Japan. Rarely seen nowadays

8 .Can't remember if I got this from Daiso or Mr DIY . But I needed these colour coordinated cutters too . And despite the very fragile feel , it cuts tiny bread pieces with a very clear imprint even grown boys will love .

9 .Food drawing pens .

Fill them with sauces and draw .
Needed because there are no other food pens .

Please don't take my reasoning pattern seriously . But if you argue with a guy on those points , their hands will most likely go up in surrender and you will get your way because they think you're nuts , so it's best they get it for you , or let you get it for yourself before they "get it" from you .

A Daiso kitchen and cookware post

By now you're probably wondering if I work for Daiso or I'm paid by Daiso to post these up right ?
Well ...no .
But if you see me buying like more than usual , I probably know something you don't ?
Or maybe not :)
Ahah !

While this newest post covers cookware , I will have other sub posts up pretty soon . Phase of mine . Bear with me . If not , wait till I get over it lol .

1. Sesame grinder .

Some think that it only comes in brown . As you can see .... the proof is in the pudding .
Bright red . Seen another in mustard yellow . Black too .
Take note that there are a few sizes sold in the outlets ,and this is the largest .

Strange Daiso wares you might actually need

You might gloss over some of the products below , not knowing what they are for . I'll show you some best sellers any regular Daiso addict worth her salt ought to know about .

1. Japanese omelette maker .
Meant for use in the microwave , this is an easy 2 step process towards making Tamagoyaki .

Latecomer to Daiso diningware

Eating out is becoming so much more expensive nowadays and with so many resources available over the internet ,anyone can at least try to cook for ( read.... ceret beret-ise ) our loved ones . So why not spend a little more on nice diningware to bring that dining experience back home right ?

Whether we are a failed , hopeless cook or a veeery good cook , the most important thing to our kids is that Mum , that gypsy dancing wannabe , takes the effort to go whip out something that almost breaks her back ( oh , I hear a hurrah from one son )

Thursday 3 March 2016

Hachiko !

Hachiko is a famous Japanese dog from the Akita pedigree , known for the world famous story about its loyalty .
While not all of us can afford time and expenses required to nurture a real one , surely we can keep the dust off this ceramic representation .

The Maison Clement

You've probably seen ( and bought ! ) this plasticware from Daiso .
Called the Maison Clement , it's made in Japan . The entire range is not shown below. What's missing is the large tray, pen caddy and round dustbin .

Thing is , when you start with one , you'll need to get another .
Because it's so pretty , plus it has a tendency to attract dust right at the bottom base, I do worry if I'll end up scratching it .

Apparently there are two

Yup. Apparently there are 2 Black maneki - neko versions sold by Daiso and I only found out about this yesterday .
Both lift up different paws .... the script is different too .

Here you go .

Happy hunting !

Maneki - Neko mania at Daiso Malaysia

Sweet Jesus and Mother of God what on earth have I done ?

The month has not ended and yet I have failed , I have lost the will to glue my wallet opening together and caved in to cute temptation .

Wednesday 24 February 2016

Black Maneki - Neko

Daiso is a really good place to hunt for maneki-neko of various designs .
This year alone , they released so many , I cannot possibly go snap up all in one shot because hubs will say something like
" we are having ceramic cat for dinner tonight "
Sheesh . Have to control .

Convert that old crayon case

Nobody seems to want these cases anymore . No matter how hardy and sturdy they are .
I ripped out the inside and put in fabric covered plastic boards cut to size . Added stretch bands and there you have it .

Turning the P & G ONG Zodiac glass bottle topper into a dangling charm

A good majority of us Malaysians love our lucky charms super cute . However the year of the monkey has seen some rather ghastly representations that are not appealing in the least . Cute ? Pulez lah hah . When it comes to what I have seen so far in Penang retail outlets , only Tesco 's cartoon monkey  makes the cut. The rest are meh , one cut out mascot along Kelawei , huh damn ass ugly and so scary to look at .

So , I've been hunting and so far I absolutely don't like what I see . Those decor sourced from China sucks !
Until I had a bright spark moment after well...read on and you'll find out lah .

Recently P  &  G has been giving away zodiac glass bottles and I had to wait like around 3 weeks before I found the Monkey . If last year , the tingkat carrier was unopenable , this year , haiya , as luck would have it , they so phobia already with us achi achor kaupeh kauboo them , until jeng jeng jeng... if you are not careful ah , the lid for the glass bottle will slip right off and piang , there goes your pineapple cookies .

Ya , your kids will grin at you like this. You like meh ?

Not all bottles have this problem. The problem is , we have to take what the customer service gives us . Take back and exchange ? And find out the monkey is no more . Errr..nope . No thanks.
