Penang Airport 2013 - domestic departures

While the facade is now eyecatching and elegant, and the main hall outside, has new F&B outlets such as KFC, the toilets still remain a horror story which I don't wanna talk about.

Once past passport control however, things are much more pleasant on the inside. Large glass panels for great photo ops of the runway.

Spacious too with nice shops to cater to the last minute shopper.

One of them being Ban Heang, for Penang boxed desserts.
Great for picking up all time favourites for friends and family back home.

As well as the WHSmith chain bookstore.
Um, it's very, very basic, boring even.
Can't compare to their better stocked outlets overseas.

Unlike the old days , now, there's even a proper snack island right in front of one of the gates,  for those who might need a bite or two.

Make sure you don't bypass Bread Island bakery.
Will you check out the backview

That's for the domestic departures.

As for Arrivals, good luck in trying to lug your luggage across the road to the car park.
Some Moron decided to design the kerb an inch higher than the road proper.
Meaning if you were to push the airport trolley down the slope, you will get a nasty shock when your luggage gets dislodged due to the tarred road being an inch lower. Now that's just on one side. Try to get to the other side with the same scenario.
No pics. Doesn't deserve it.

Whatever were they thinking ?

Location :  Penang International Airport, Bayan Lepas
