Bird feeding and Bond outside the New Mosque

It's crazy but the New Mosque is not 1, not 10, but 400 plus years old

Located just next to the Spice Bazaar, there is a door within the bazaar ....

...that leads to this spectacular looking inner courtyard....

...where, surprise, surprise, lies a small garden market on the left hand side of the entrance

There are a few shops here, hawking everything from bulbs and seeds....

...to birdcages ( look in the background of this photo )

...even bird feed and cat kibble of every kind

Variety alone is mind boggling

Some of which I've never seen before

Then, just when you lift your head up from all that, you see these jars in the corner

Take a closer look and Yikes ! Leeches ! They even sell leeches here !

Walk away from the market, towards the side of the building, and you will find these little booths in a row

The attendants are mostly senior citizens and they sell you bird feed by the plate

It's quite a fun activity but compared to the pigeons in Buenos Aires, they don't trust us humans one bit. Won't come near, don't even think of ten birds hoping onto your arms just to get the seeds

Still, kids absolutely love it .
Like this little guy here, after finishing all that was in his hand, he started high kicking them, hah, boys are like that

There's another cluster of booths just round the corner

But what sends me over the moon , is that I'm right where one of the chase scenes from the James Bond movie Skyfall was shot.
A-w-e-s-o-m-e !

Location : Eminonu, Istanbul
