Vittorio Emanuele II Monument

The best thing about Rome is ,no matter how fast the drivers may be going, they will always stop for pedestrians who want to cross the road even if there is no proper designated road crossing. Even if you cross illegally . Even if the traffic light says green for the motorist. They will stop . Just for you.

And when it rains, they will automatically slow down out of courtesy for fear of splashing water from the road table onto you.
Even if you do the moonwalk, they will patiently wait for you to safely cross, yeah even if you insist on snapping pics midway , they WILL wait before they proceed on their daily routine, at breakneck rempit speed.
Yes, the man is looking quite annoyed at me

Anywayyyyy...we've made it across.
Fuyoooo. So many things you cannot do here.

Cannot sit, eat, lie down, bring pets, make noise, climb on bannisters, smoke ,
behave badly .
Currently selfie, wefie and whateverfies have not made the list.

Due to its colossal presence , it has been nicknamed The Wedding Cake .... The Typewriter ...The Urinal even ?
but me, I think it's a good landmark. Spot it from a street and you roughly know where you are already or which direction to head towards.
The two statues on the side are known as the Quadriga Dell'a Unita or Goddess Victoria riding chariot horses.
In the middle is King Vittorio Emanuele who successfully unified Italy

Winds must be quite strong here ? Notice the wires next to the flagpole .

The large central statue,  is that of the Goddess Roma.
Beneath that is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Guarded through rain or shine.

Missed it last time because I went behind and explored the museum . Glad I caught it this time round. In fact I don't even know how I could have missed it seeing that it is supposed to be an eternal flame. At that time, someone suggested I climb up for a 360 view of Roma Capitale from the top. Maybe I was too preoccupied to notice. Today they have an elevator for that purpose , but I didn't go check that out.

Making our way down towards Trajan's Column now
