View from the balcony - Lord Avery's paradise

Lord Avery landed in Port Dickson during the Columbus era after surviving a pirate attack. He stayed on for more than 12 years and during that period built Avery's Pavillion as well as 7 huts on stilts to commemorate the 7 sampan boats that went out to save him . As this place was his personal paradise, when he left he burnt all maps leading to it, to keep it safe from conquest.

Today, even if you can't afford to stay here, at least you can get a free peep,  for a feel of what it looks like from the inside of our Premium Water Chalet.

Guess this must have been more or less what he saw so many hundreds of years back.
Well, if you'll excuse the mansion and lamp pole.

Sunset.
May not be as spectacular as the one in Batu Feringghi or Langkawi, nevertheless it's very calming and soothing on the soul.

Two heads bob in knee deep water as the tide is on its way out . These are local fisherfolk, the ones who catch crabs and shoreline molluscs .

Love this spot. You would too .
Should you insist on sitting out at night, under the still of the moonlight until yet another plane drones by, make sure you have some citronella or lemongrass balm on standy . Keeps the mosquitoes away like magic.

A group of windsurfers land on Tumasek beach.
Soon as the tide goes all the way out, you too can go crabbing on the muddy shore. I have done this activity before during the day when I was younger but I still remember the panic when the tide rushed back in ( very fast !) and one of us got stuck.
You can do this at night too, just remember to arm yourselves with torch lights and take note of the tide coming in.

What living in a kampung
 by the sea looks like
