If Gateway Ekkamai is yet another complex on your hit list , then you'll want to know if it is what it says it is.
View from the Ekkamai BTS station
A cluster of Maneki - neko cats are positioned to beckon you to come in and look.
Was quite impressed with the ground floor cos there are a lot of Japanese dining options for you to choose from.
They even have a maid cafe called Maidreamin in one corner.
Initially meant to be an entire shopping centre dedicated to everything Japan , between the ground floor and the foodcourt upstairs , the concept never really took off .
Lots of empty lots.
You'll want to go all the way up because the foodcourt is set up like a small Japanese streetfood area just like those beside the Sensoji in Asukusa
The only difference upstairs is the menu. Lots of Thai foods for you to try and if you come during lunch , the whole place is packed with office ladies and schoolgirls.
Cashless system requires you to prepay at either one out of 2 cashiers before placing your order.
Besides that, there's free wifi, you have to register only i can't recall what we pounded in to get through. Just 'tembak' only.
Green curry is not bad . Tomyam quite good. But if you like a lot of meat , there's just a minimal amount with tons of vegies. Omelettes are fluffy and nice.
He tried the wantan mee. Obviously Thai style.
Not for me.
Nice Thai dessert stall, good coffee , decent food , airconditioning , what else can I ask for.
Worth a try at least once.
Location : beside the Ekkamai BTS station
