Full Breakfast Menu at The River Grill

Breakfast here is not only very filling but the eye catching placements make the experience more interesting and appetizing for diners young and old.
Plus , I saw a few vegans who were clearly pleased with the very healthy spreads that do not sacrifice good old tasty foods blessed by Mother Nature.

Two mornings in a row , I headed straight towards the attractive salad portions placed into little glass cups with different dressings .

Orangey brown base contains a sweet sesame based dressing.

While the slightly bitter yellow one ....fruit based ....
Leaves were fresh, hand selected and crunchy to the bite. They looked so pretty and came with pine nuts I toyed about going for seconds.

No one could resist these petite white pots topped with fruits which resemble custard from the top.
They're actually natural unsweetened yogurts.

By the time I got one on my plate , there were only 3 left.
Quite a hit.

Fresh natural juices with no sugar , were placed on ice inside a flower pot.

Health conscious customers saw to it that it was almost always emptied as you can see below. One had to stake this out for a swig.

Now , I've never seen 3 varieties of milk served this way before.

Fresh milk, low fat ....soya milk even !

Sweetened yogurt pots were also displayed in similar fashion

Neither have I come across more spreads than what they have on this shelf.....Nutella , Marmite , Kaya , marmalade .....omg will you just look at the long row.
Don't get me started on the breads . They are scrumptiously good and to die for !

The other unique breakfast addition next to a cheese board , compotes and cracker bar ....

...were these jars of local pickles !
Jeruk as we know it. Amazing !

Know what these condiments are ?
They're mostly salted ingredients for you to add into Chinese congee.
3 varieties of preserved vegies, stewed peanuts , salted fish, baby anchovies, kangkong ( the old fashioned slimy type ) , chopped omelette, century eggs and this being Malacca ....more salted eggs lol.

Plain porridge on the left. Fish porridge on the right.
Am no fan of fish porridge but this was really good because there was no fishy smell and in both congees , fragrant rice is used to boil the broth !
End result. Incredible !

First morning , I chose a modest selection of chickpeas, stuffed olives , tiny piece of carrot cake ( it's sooooooo gooood !!!)  , smoked breast of chicken , sausages , incredibly delish bread slice and one upturned salad portion , with tomato juice and a potted yogurt that went into my tum .

Because the staff here flash you the greatest of smiles , even if you think you don't want coffee, you will tell them you want it. Am I making any sense yet ? No ?
Never mind.

Heck , when the bright as sunshine waiter asked me if I  would like to order from the ala carte menu ,of course  I nodded , pointed and got this Big Breakfast delivered . Wasn't even halfway through the one above.
Don't get me wrong. It's really tasty , yummy and delicous. But veryyyy fillingggg !

See, when you order from the ala carte menu , it means that the food is specially cooked for you in the kitchen and not put together by slapping a combo of dishes from the buffet table.
Piping hot .

What happened was, I ended up with upturned eyes when I took more than I could chew. Because the ingredients they are using are quality ingredients right down to the choice of oils , one will feel full faster than elsewhere , so , I had problems finishing my meal.
Still , I do recommend that you go for the Full breakfast option . Order , eat , then only pick some items from the buffet counter. No way to gorge out here.

Which is exactly what I did on the second morning .

Later, I added on some smoked chicken , capers , olives...

...the sweetest , juiciest watermelon slices , tiny pieces of cheese and crackers plus a tiny scoop of porridge .
Much more manageable for me .

There were things I did not find agreeable and that was the Two Egg Omelette On Toast which frankly looked so pathetic . As well as the Egg , pancake and waffle station with the most sullen chef of the lot.
Please don't place him out here if he clearly doesn't enjoy interacting with guests.

Overall a wonderful experience to wake up to , with the exception of those 2 annoyances above.

Location : Casa Del Rio , Malacca
