Drinking salt water from a D11 durian husk

We waited till today to get our fill.
4 numbers of the durian strain called D11 .
That's eleven , not two.

What we got today was so divinely sticky , thick and rich , nothing else matters .

Oh the crowd.
There was a busload of Indonesian Chinese, Penangites, KLites, tourists from HK and China even.
Now the sellers even foil pack these durians for such tourists to take on the plane !
Everybody was smiling , so happy and jovial , the stall resembled a mini beer festival .
Yep, we all looked like we were getting high and drunk. On durian. Geez.

With the long wait over, let the gorging begin.
But let me show you a little trick we use in this region to counter heat , stink and a sore throat from eating too much of this good thing.

Salt. You'll need table salt , water and a section of fresh husk.

To get rid of the wine like effect which can make you feel as if your body is overheating, do this.
Mix a teaspoon of salt into the husk  with a bit of water and drink from the kernel as if it were a flat drinking vessel.
This method also prevents you from getting a sore throat.
Just be careful not to injure yourself on the lips and fingers.

To remove the durian odour from your fingers , switch on the tap and hold another husk  underneath the running water. Wash your fingers as the water runs off the white inner part of the husk  .
Walla ! No more durian stink or smell.
