That pretty much sums up the first day of 2016 . One crazy day in which try as we might , we could not avoid getting entangled with the happy crowds and angry traffic that poured into Penang.

Was as unbelievable as this product description below . 

To get to our lunch venue , we had to  outnavigate others in a complex with parking entrances sealed off due to zero parking space . 

Mighty pleased with ourselves in being able to secure a spot very quickly , we were in the mood for an unforgettable first lunch of the year at Sushi Tei .

Lobster and scallop appetisers , cold , something new we've never ever ordered before 

.....mmm mmmm .

Tempura prawns , nice ...

Double helping of salmon sashimi , yummy ....

Beef...let's also have some beef on the table.  Yakiniku don . Make that 2 please .

Grilled teriyaki salmon.

Dinner found us heading towards Batu Feringghi but omg , apparently the snaking roads were chugging along real slow ( seems this happens every night ) . Thus we made a U turn back down to Lebanon ...for a mixed grill platter ...seems to be missing something ....

...juicy grilled chicken .

Of course .

Not forgetting pizza for the young Tuan .

With the most insanely sinful helping of fresh mozarella meant to make old birds like me grow bigger sideways .

Now , this , I nibble very cautiously .

Think we overindulged ? 

Nah . We've been reigning in our spending pattern for the last quarter .

It's the New Year . Let's celebrate while we still have our teeth .

Did we not go local ? Oh don't you worry . When we thought it was safe . High probability that the crowds would have dispersed by 3a.m. Drove past the rempits waiting for " the race " right smack into very slow moving traffic .

All that effort just to sup at the mamak. 

Last night was comical . There were still so many people that even he, so usually quick and efficient , simply could not cope. The backlog was horrendous and the drains made me feel like wilting .
