Daiso foodstuff

I love Japanese food but the prices at dine ins , are getting a bit too much to swallow nowadays  .
When I first started getting these ingredients to experiment with ( so that's what I've been up to ) and saw the eventual results ....gosh , you know what ?
I realised , they just made simple Japanese food , so darned easy to whip up !

I'll kick off by just labelling some of these foodstuffs . You can google them or check back when I feel like adding more details later on.

1. Bonito flakes .

2. Bonito soup stock in granule form

3. Udon soup stock .
4 packs in this small box .

4. Udon soup stock .
Larger box .

5. Vinegar with rice wine .
Add sugar and a pinch of salt and walla , there's all the sushi rice you will need !

6. Shimanoka laver paste with beef stock .
Good for porridge or soups .

7. Takoyaki flour mix .
You'll need a non stick takoyaki pan for it . The pan is a good investment worth mulling over  .

8. Takoyaki sauce .
Ready to eat .Just squeeze .

9. Okonomiyaki flour mix .
Use a non stick round pan to get the shape you want .

10. Sukiyaki sauce .
Best boiled as a soup with ingredients in a heavy cast iron pot with a wicker flame at the bottom

11 . Dried bonito sauce .
Pretty obvious that I love anything with bonito in it .

12. Tokyo Noodle .
Mini instant noodle .
Frankly , I find the yellow pack with a faint curry flavour more to my liking . Don't really fancy the black one .
The pink one is a pork and curry flavour ( not in picture )

13. Soba noodles .
Made from buckwheat . Brown in colour. Best served ice cold .
You could soak it with some Chinese tea or Japanese green tea for variety .

14. Another buckwheat noodle which you can turn into cold soba noodles .
Difference with the one on top is there's taro in this one .

15. Dried udon noodles .
Boil it till the noodles become soft .

16 . Kishimentei dried wide noodles .
Trying it all .

17. Marukin udon noodles

18. Pickling powder

19 . Asazuke no moto .
A pickling vinegar

20. Grilled saury fish .
Eat in moderation as there are high levels of mercury in the fish , just like shark and swordfish meat .
If you are pregnant , try not to eat these 3 fishes ok ?

21. Wasabe in a tube . A common brand available in other retail outlets . However , if you manage to get it from Daiso , it means you knock off 70 sen compared to other places .

22. Ikari Teriyaki sauce !!!

23. Kimchi soup mix.
Says on the pack
" Product of Japan "

24.  Green tea powder .
You can use this as a drink or to sprinkle on food .

25.  Another type of pickling mix for chinese cabbage .
Simply place cut cabbage slices in a bag and shake it .

26. Thin savoury pancake mix

27. Hachi spaghetti sauce .

28. Macaroni gratin mix.
Comes complete with sauce and long macaroni

29. Hachi spaghetti sauce - King Crab flavour .
Just like the real thing . Very good if you ever miss King Crabs or they are not in season  .

30. Hachi spaghetti sauce - Mushroom carbonara

31. Dried laver

32. Dried mix

33. Wasabi salt by S & B .
Very tasty this one .
Always wiped out . I managed to get the last bottle standing .

34. Hot curry cube stock by House .
Haven't tried it yet but there are 6 cubes inside just so you know .
A good plate of Japanese curry with saffron at a restaurant costs around 20 ringgit . These cubes are great when the craving arises

There's been a number of new and exciting additions lately such as small mackerel slices in aluminium packs . But while I didn't feel like getting it , you can check those out .

What did get me excited enough was

35. Oh My Italian mixed herb chicken saute seasoning powder .

36. Oh My Groceries Series
 - Anjillo
Shrimp Tapas Seasoning powder
