Castro - queer town where the rainbow flag stands proud

As we approached Castro , nobody in the bus knew what to say .
Even though the guide had earlier given us a heads up as to what the town stands for , we looked on in silence while the free and happy souls pranced and strutted freely down the streets .

" Oh look ! That male couple is living together in that house .....and that's a famous bar where gays and lesbos hang out ....these women are lesbians ....that old man and young man ..... bla bla bla "

Owing to the fact that she had many queer friends , she felt compelled to teach us how to identify a gay man from the way he arched his buttocks .
Demo included , which made somebody snicker but oh my gosh . It was too much info .
Waaaaaay too much info already . Somebody stop her .

So this is what the tour company meant by
" in - depth " tour .
Deeply informative , even historical details , none of us were prepared for .

Yup .
As I stared at the huge Rainbow Flag , fluttering in the wind , with the sun shining down and lots of genuinely happy faces walking around the little town....I felt as if I was in a really free republic , a little country dedicated to the rainbow people .....the LGBT .

We never got the chance to hit the pavement . Tour was just a drive by .
But if we did maybe another tour guide would have pointed us out as L , G and B , T too , to the stunned tourists under their watch , stuck inside the bus , observing in slitty eyed silence as if they were at a zoo excursion or something .
