When I went to pick up my shoe from the cobbler , he suddenly noticed my ring .
" Ini sembahyang kat gua ? "
he asked me rather as a matter of fact .
Loosely translated , he asked me if this stone was worshipped inside a cave before I purchased it . Yes really . He really asked me that . I'm not kidding but I really do not understand what he meant by that statement either .
Have read somewhere about some Malay traders who sell semi precious gemtones procured out of river beds . Some local shamans and witchdoctors known as bomohs , will even recite incantations over the stones first .
However , this is the first time in my life , I have heard of anyone chanting over a stone inside a cave .
By that , he must be insinuating that I probably have some supernatural inhabitant , residing inside it !
How scary !!!
Taken aback by what he just uttered , I gulped before informing him that there was no such nonsense as this piece of jewellery was passed down to me . And I know the exact shop where it was purchased . Some small town Chinese jeweller in the middle region .
Still he was so intrigued , it kept me wondering what it was about this piece that had fascinated many keen eyed people over the years .
Well , I'm gonna shine a light behind just to show you . Maybe you'll understand why it got the cobbler so excited . He's Indon by the way .
As you can see , it is opaque , a little bit translucent , surrounded by many fine veins and cloudy swirls .
Is it really that mysterious looking ?
Hmmm , I'm still wondering too .
