( PF ) Joo Leong Cafe, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah

If you are on the way to the airport, and you come across a long row of cars parked on the side, with a hive of activity and people, from morning till night, it's got to be the one and only Joo Leong Cafe.

In business for over 50 years already, they are reknowned for Teochew seafood noodles and porridge cooked without monosodium glutamate.

Pick out what seafoods you want and leave the rest to them.Because some ingredients are sold by weight, some first timers grumble about the price, since they unwittingly tend to pile on a lot of goodies like large prawns and crabs.

However  if you are a regular, you'll know how not to overdo things to keep the cost down .
This bowl filled with fish maw, one small deep fried fishhead, sawi and brown cuttlefish cost us below $6.00

More than reasonable, if you ask me.

Not only that, their all day breakfast staple, which is the humble toasted bread with butter, is nothing short of spectacular .

Done old Malaysian kopitiam style, where sprinkles of sugar granules are left to self melt on top of the hot fragrant roti , the amazing thing about the preparation method here is that the bread remains crispy on both sides while retaining a scrumptiously soft centre.

Priced at only $2.00 for two slices of dainty cut bite sized pieces, this is one of those times where it's worth spoiling your waistline a little .

There is also another stall here at the entrance, that hawks Salted Chicken. Choose from two flavours ...original or herbal tong kwai. Costs $20 for a whole chicken.

Using a dry wok laden with rock salt, a whole chicken is placed in a parchment paper wrap, and cooked in order to trap in all the juicy goodness, melting down fine ligaments to produce a most sticky but nourishing meal.
