LED lights up the Malaysian Lion Dance

Seems to be all the rage this year.

To have LED lights on the Lion head, that is.
Notice the pattern bearing Thai/Kelantanese influence.

What the head looks like, before the lights are switched on .
Not much difference, except for the forehead area, which is devoid of a red glow.

Watched the first show featuring LED lights in KL.
This one's performed by a bunch of camera shy students from ( I was told ) Chung Hwa High School.

 Takes two, to move the lion

 One to hold the head up high.
The other, to give it a kickass butt.
Notice, how the one behind is holding on to the front's waistpant.

They move into position.
Aww... looks super cute and adorable this way.

 Only to get down and go into snooze mode

Lion Dance whispers some words of wiseness. 
This isn't part of the act.
It's just that these are inexperienced schoolkids and he's probably instructing them.

Once it 'music' ( din / noise ) starts, it awakens...

...and gets ready to spring into action.

Something seems to have caught their eye, as they wait at the entrance

Oranges, pomelos and lettuce, symbolising wealth, luck and prosperity .
Yea, these big cats are vegetarians alright.
The placement is a bit weird. Haven't seen this before.

All those 'goodies' are meant to get them all worked up and excited.

They give a customary kowtow ( bow ) as a deep sign of respect

Most troupes keep this scene below towards the end.
Somehow I think the lion, ate the lettuce a little too early.

 Spit the greens out and littered the floor,
but not to worry,since that act in itself, is considered lucky.
Just don't try this without donning a lion dance suit.

There was no jaw dropping acrobatics as these two lions preferred to stare at food....

 ...with mouth wide open....

..... pussy foot around food....

 
..before vacuuming it off the floor .

And boy, were they on the floor a lot .

This act took the longest.

At half time, there was a not so secret, exchange between them

 At some point, they went to sleep again.
And stretched like a cat, upon waking.

The prancing was just ok to me.

When you've seen the best ones , therein lies the problem.
Neck lifts were a safe bet 

This was the rare occasion, where they played with one another

Ass you can see.....coordination isn't as easy as it looks.

These kids deserve credit where it's due.

Their mentors too...
for upholding this Malaysianised dance form
