Rama 1 Road, is like Jalan Bukit Bintang in Malaysia,
only better, as the major shopping centres are linked via a series of clean, airy, elevated pedestrian walkways .
This map from Bangkokbob.net ( a defunct site ) simplifies everything in a nutshell.
I'll show you how it's possible to walk on foot from Erawan to MBK Plaza in half an hour or less.
Start from Amarin Plaza, walk forward ....
...till you see this, the world famous Erawan Shrine,
which houses the Four Faced Buddha.
Head towards the side of Central World Plaza and walk forward in this direction .
Once you spot Novotel Hotel coming up on your left,
go down to the ground and choose whether you want to explore Siam Paragon or Siam Square across the road .
Siam Centre is just next door, followed by Siam Discovery.
Make use of the elevated walkway again to get across to MBK Plaza.
It's a moderately sized complex with an amazing array of cheap pamperingservices and goods you have to see.
MBK is also where you can find a Burger King outlet.
However, a word of caution to Muslim readers who wish to eat at American fastfood outlets while in Thailand.
Please take a look at the menu below.
Pork is sold side by side with the usual orders.
