Sin Hup Aun Cafe - most un-Milo Milo (NH)

The young cafe owner has had a rather glorious past, in the field of bowling. The massive collection of trophies that line the back of this kopitiam attest to that. Rumour has it, that he invested his prize monies in this prized catch.
The kopitiam's fame was further cemented when Dr Pornthip, the forensic pathologist, otherwise known as Thailand's Dr Death, dropped by for a bite at the curry mee stall, a local favourite, that is located here.

 

With such an illustrious headstart , I really don't understand why, they had to resort to this. 

We ordered a cup of iced Milo that frankly , tasted like Coco powder blended with cheap cherry syrup. It's so bad that it doesn't deserve a picture. Not to say we didn't complain. We did.

In less than a minute, after we had returned the drink, both the owner and the drinkmaker denied that their Milo tasted un-Milo . There were 3 of us at my table, who personally tasted the drink and had to wholly disagree with their verdict . I rest my case. Can't argue with these cows.

Onto the food. The curry mee stall had closed, this was on every one's table. Beehoon fried by a CKT seller. Looks good only. We had to throw away the whole plate as it tasted as if it was soaked in a bucket of oil.

 

 Forced to reorder another dish from a different seller.

Looks like a mangled mess but tastes much closer to the dry fried beehoon sold at the Hainanese restaurant at Hotel 1926. 

Omit the char siew if you are interested in trying this out . The meat isn't in good condition. 

Last order. From Chef's Delight, a chinese western at the corner of the coffeeshop .

That is if you like your ham to look like luncheon meat.

Don't know many places that serve it this way.

No complaints though.

   

  What's happened to the hawkers these days on Penang island ? They're so greedy.... always thinking of more ridiculous ways to profit even more .

How long do we have to put up with this nonsense ?
