24/7 anglers on the Galata Bridge

This is the Galata Bridge. The Kabatas or tram plies both ways but the main attraction, besides the stunning view, is really the anglers themselves .

Where you see the golden floating fishing boats selling fish sandwiches , that's Eminonu, on one end.

And at the far end away from that, is... Karakoy. Some people think that is Asia, but nope, if you wanna cross over to Asia, you've got to battle lots of jams to get all the way over to Uskudar.

Doesn't matter what time it is, the Turks just love to fish.
There are restaurants just beneath. If you walk there, you'll see the reason why some never catch anything. How to when their hook is still in mid air and not in the water ? Fail....haha

Even when it's dark,or when there are fireworks with noisy revellers, check out the quiet crowd on the left of this photo, yeah, all they wanna do is fish. Unbelievable.
"Kaki pancing" to the max.

Well, if you have a like minded and you're just itching to cast a line like them, don't fret

....there are makeshift stalls here hawking everything you'll need from bait like shrimps, worms and fish to just about everything you'll need. Reels, lines, hooks, and those large wooden clip like things so you can keep your hands free.

Which brings us to the big question. What's keeping them hooked ?
There, see for yourself . Little blue fish if I'm not mistaken. Then again, it depends on the season.

Location : Galata Bridge, Istanbul
