Scenes from Taksim Square

When you see this big flag, means you've reached Taksim Square.

You can hop on the historic red tram which goes into Istiklal Avenue as the starting point is somewhere here.

Most visitors will want to take a snapshot at this monument

Called the Republic Monument, if you think it looks rather Russian like, well, apparently there is a connection. To do with Ataturk and the formation of the Turkish Republic in 1923

There, this is the distance between the earlier flag and this monument. The funicular station is somewhere in between that.

At the end of the square, are flower stalls

I've seen some tourists wear these bands Celtic style on their head.

Really pretty, they are entirely handmade .
But bear in mind, the fake flowers are from China. Kuang kuang kuang.

My panoramic shot doesn't turn out so well. Some things are better seen with the human eye.

Am moving off to another destination after this.
Totally impromptu. That's the beauty of going FIT.

Was tempted to buy some chestnuts because of the cold winds

And though I wondered where these 2 were headed, and would really love to hang out, watching life go by,mingle with the locals, I've got other places on my list I wanna explore.

Location : Taksim Square, Istanbul, Turkey
