Penang hills on fire ! Firefighting plane to the rescue

There's never been a worse drought than the one we're experiencing this year. And today small spots of fires broke out on one of the hills

Seen from Starbucks Tanjong Tokong

View of the fire from Gurney Drive, that's Sunrise Tower on the right

At first we thought that the plane was merely surveying the area

See how hopeless the situation is right here now ? Even the seabed is cracked

This is the effect you get now from throwing mudballs in ...an environmental disaster if you ask me.

Back to the case of the David vs Goliath mission undertaken here today

It made so many trips . Was amazing to watch yet, it must have been really frustrating to have to battle something this way what with the tide so far out.
In this picture it's making a U turn

Yep, the little plane had to go so far out just to scoop out seawater

Whoever the pilot is , I salute you

As of now the fire is still raging but presumably under control and not spreading ( I don't know how ) because when I last looked at the hill at around 9pm, another tree had burst into flames ( we used binoculars )

Location : Penang

Oh no! I hope it is now under control.
