Update January 2015 : today, they do provide forks and spoons. Only the nonchalant couldn't care damn rude service remains.
-------------
The Veloo Villas of today, is far flung from days of yore.
The premise has undergone a revamp minus the dothi wearing waiters and cooks. Foodwise, they too have succumbed to the easy , addictive fix of monosodium glutamate and soy sauce for almost all of their dishes.
Unlike other operators these days , their banana leaf meals, are still simple yet extremely filling. Rice portions are generous and the quality is much better than a lot of other joints. One may add on side meat orders by pointing at whatever strikes your fancy here.
However, service is so sloppy to the point where you might think they're being intentionally rude . Also, do note that they do not offer you cutlery and you are expected to eat with your hands.
Different story , a few units across the road.
That annoyance aside, we tuck into our massive vegetarian meal with 2 meats on the side, which I dove into only to say " Oh, oh...I forgot to take a picture "
Anyway, here's some of the unique dishes one can find here...
Masala marinated deep fried Threadfin Bream known locally as Ikan Kerisi
And Plaintain chips , a speciality from the state of Kerala.
Something I can't get enough of even though was not crispy anymore "masuk angin ". Very nice this...yums.
Bear in mind that although service is atrocious , the drinks are still authentic ....foodwise the curries have been Malaysianised.
Final bill ...not as despicable as before, which leads me to suspect that someone might have taken over and bought them out.
