Exaggerated travellers tales

Some of my people are really funny. They like to cook up tales about the places they've been. Sometimes it's just based on presumptions. Other times they paint a good picture out of fear for " loss of face"

Overheard yesterday at an office here is one example.

She : " You all don't go to Istanbul. I regret going. Shouldn't have gone on tour there "
They : " Why ? What happened ?"
She : " Aiyooo, you know .... that ISIS is so near aiyoooo....can see the smoke from the bridge lah. We were all so scared  "

Hellooooo....The Kurds were demonstrating against the Turks . ( No, of course she didn't know that. )

The border where ISIS can be found is still faaaaaarrrrr away.

That's 14 over hours by car.

The time we take to travel from Hatyai to Bangkok you freaking mother &£¥$ing panic monger.
If you can see smoke from Bangkok in Hatyai what does that mean ? Unless you were also travelling to Jordan. But she just singled out Istanbul . No mention of Petra in her plans.

What smoke did she see ? A nuclear explosion ?

You should see my boss Goh. She' never formally studied English, nor has she ever lived in a foreign country. Honestly speaking she has trouble saying my name, but she insists she is saying it correctly. I think every country has it's quota of them unfortunately.

As a matter of courtesy, I would ask you how to pronounce your name first of course. Did you mention boss ? Lol, now that is another species altogether .
