The new KTM Butterworth train station

Well , it took some time but now it is finally completed.
Outwardly, it looks very comfortable and promising but let's go in and take a look shall we ?
Walking in from the very spacious carpark where the patches of grass have yet to take root , shows you just how new the station is.

You need to go up via a lift if you wanna get tickets.
There is a police beat downstairs as well as one of the old round benches which they retained but there's no toilet in sight. Not on the 1st floor nor on the ground level. If you need to use the loo, you need to go across to where the horribly embarassing old makan stalls are .

So yup, this is basically the waiting area.
Ticket counter is not open all the time. Where the large.glass panel is a non smoking room. Pointless really as the aircond and fans are not switched on and it's stuffy and uncomfortable in there.
The good thing is there are 4 charging points in this waiting space. 2 in the non smoking area. 2 along the walls flanking the round benches . Only 1 water cooler is switched on although there are 3 units in total . The one in the non smoking room has a button stolen by some baboon , yeah probably the same type that the hikers in BM publically shamed some weeks back.

Since we obviously came to busybody around , lemme be the first to show you the view from this floor.
Beautiful eh ? The ferry and Penang island are right across these tracks.

If you come before dusk , you get to see this. By nightfall , there are some lights to see but not particularly impressive.

Down here is the loop road one drives along to enter the ferry terminal

Overall I still prefer the old station.
A sign of new times is this warning on taking your selfie stick out to the electrified tracks

Most important of all is this photo below.
Take note of the opening hours
