Why I'm gonna cut down on hawker food

From Bee Hooi in Pulau Tikus $6.50. Very pathetic and cut throat. Not much noodles. 4 strings of kucai max. Taugey.
Prawn looks large because it is severely undercooked. Blood cockles - you're lucky if you get more than 5 pieces .
I'd rather prefer to pay that exorbitant Lorong Selamat aunty. At least she doesn't stinge or cut back on ingredients.

Compare that to this bowl in Ipoh. Tongsui kai.
Huge bowl of curry with sooo much long beans and soooooo much blood cockles right to the bottom of the bowl.
3 springy fishballs $7.50.
Price seems higher but it's totally worth it.

UDA Flat , Bee nasi melayu . Yes Malay rice.
$9.50
One fried egg, one huge piece of fried chicken, a bit of jackfruit kernel , four angle beans in vinegrette.
More worth it.

I'm looking at our local Penang hawker  food and frankly , I'm fed up. Tiny portion , dissappearing ingredients.
Can't keep crossing over to Butterworth to eat right ? I take one pack of Maggi Royale priced around $8 and a $23 can of expensive Pacific clams . Divided among us costs approximately $7 only.
Oklah , quite worth it. These aren't cheap clams . If the hawker were to put 5 in your bowl , it would cost you $30. No logic.
Ridiculous right ?

Then yesterday, we walked into a seafood restaurant.
Actually it works out to be more worth it and even cheaper than our home cooked extravagant Maggi above.
Abalone slices , sea cucumber slices , pacific clams , mushrooms, carrots , snowpeas, fish maw
$25 . Extremely worth it.

Hawker food used to be cheaper and offer great value for money , quick meals.
However, once you work it out, it's cheaper to eat at chu cha restaurants and KL even due to the terrible portions and non existent ingredients they cheat us of.There are still pockets of places like this is in Penang, plenty in Butterworth , but the famous ones are just killing themselves by giving us such despicable offerings  .
