Chou Yang - porridge to stave off the heat and excess

One minute it's raining , next minute it's hot.

To make matters worse , we've been helping ourselves to a second round of durians .
The owner tells us they're from Perak. I have my doubts. They taste like they're Thai. Nevertheless he still charged us a bomb after telling us that the durian season officially is expected to begin in mid June.

The weather. The durians. Plus duck .
Need a cooling detox. My body's aching from the duck. And the durians , this is not the good stuff. Swear they were chemically ripened.
Let's go for some simple moi at Chou Yang.
Yes all the way in Bukit Jambul because I do consume heaty jamu and this is one place where I can get the Indonesian brand that I want.
They are an economy rice shop actually but we're opting
for moi porridge because of all the reasons listed.

Plenty of old folks.
Shows you that the taste is one of wholesome familiarity we are used to and that the prices are reasonable.
Cleanliness level is a bonus. Rare these days to find a squeaky clean shop. Super duper clean .
However , this being Bukit Jambul means there will be Viet ladies you might have to share your table with as there is
a Vietnamese stall just outside which they seem to love so much.

Think we just made them think we are half mad with our order. Shared by two. Took up 2 tables lol.
2 stewed salted preserved vegies , 2 salted duck eggs , fried canned dace , stewed chicken feet , braised hard boiled eggs , pounded fragrant salted fish and porridge for less than RM18 .
So much salt, preserved stuff and a canned food.
How can this be healthy ? There is no logic behind our food selection and I don't blame those Viet ladies for not wanting to give our food a try.
Less men more share.
