Oh my goodness, the Hungarians and the amount of pickles they consume, you just gotta come here and see it to believe it !
Pickled cauliflower, shredded cabbage, paprika, garlic, gherkin, cucumber
Sold in jars, by weight ...at big markets
...neighbourhood markets....
....even in Tesco...
...yes, even in Tesco, they have a pickle counter !
There are even award winning
pickles ....
Cooked pickles .....
....in fact I think they love pickles so much they even roast their vegies in pickle juice !
But what really takes the cake for me,
is their smiling pickles !
Not satisfied with smiley faces ?
Well, maybe you'd like Chicken Little ....or a fish, butterfly, whale, mushroom, sheep, dog , bird , floral ....
....bear , owl, alphabets, snowman....big jar or small , your choice. Isn't it cute ?
They're so cute, even though I don't fancy pickles, I bought a jar home. Wrapped in bubble wrap , ziplocked and checked in with a prayer that the jar would not burst open .
It didn't and the pickle lover lapped it up so FAST , it must mean that it's good !
Anyway, I do think that picking up a jar of pickles , makes a great alternative souvenir other than paprika which Hungary is famous for.
