View 6 bridges via scenic Tram No.2

Budapest's Tram No.2 runs along the banks of the Danube river in what is acknowledged as one of the most scenic views in the world. 

Some call them streetcars , others.... trams .

Whatever name you refer to these vehicles as , it doesn't matter ..... just hop on and enjoy the amazing ride .

Rode the line from one end to the next . Other than the usual sights we have all come to see , this route passes by  6 bridges in all ! 

Beginning at Jászai Mari tér....

...and ending at Közvágóhíd

Let's list down all the 6 bridges now shall we ?

1. Margaret Bridge .

Rumoured to be a favourite spot for 14th floor if you get what I mean. Don't know how much truth there is to that though. 

After which you will be passing by the beautiful Hungarian Parliament building. 

Disembark at that stop above if you want to see the Shoes on the Danube memorial. 

Cross the road and you just have to walk a bit before you get there.

2. Chain Bridge.

The oldest bridge in Budapest.

You can walk across the bridge towards hilly Buda to catch the funicular tram to go to Buda Palace where Katy Perry filmed her Fireworks music video .

Gellert Hill and the Statue of Liberty can be seen from this angle. Get off at this stop to get to Hard Rock Cafe , Gerbeaud , Rose Gelato and St. Stephen's Basillica. 

Which brings us to bridge number 3 in the background. The white bridge. 

3. Elisabeth Bridge.

If you walk and follow the road into flat Pest, you will eventually reach Keleti train station. 

4. Liberty Bridge.

The green bridge. 

Central Market Hall is at Pest.

Hike up Gellert Hill to access a cave , spa as well as the Citadel for the best views of Budapest 

5. Petőfi Bridge

6. Rákóczi Bridge.

The red bridge.

Most locals will get off but because I had a weeklong travel pass , plus I look 100 percent like a tourist , the driver was ok with me sitting on board .

Getting a stack of ten tickets won't afford you this much freedom. Think about getting a day pass . You can ride as much as you want and hop on and off for much much less . Plus , the public transportation system here is so efficient .You don't have to wait long before another streetcar comes along. 

As you can see, Tram no. 2 offers a great way to quickly take in the city sights , no matter how miserable the weather. Sit in relax and enjoy the ride. Neither are there vertigo inducing escalators to be found on this line either !
