He actually groaned when I suggested that we go see this floating book fair.
Yeah , we Malaysians all like to do things last minute.
But the instant this came into view , the oriental devils in us came out of the shadows.
Snap snap snap. We just had to take pics. Can't help it.
Originally a car ferry, plying the Faroe Islands in Denmark ,
today , it has been repurposed and outfitted to host 800 visitors , 400 volunteers , 5000 books and a whole hull of scrumptiously glorious salty popcorn , like you've never had before . Just kidding.
Nice logo btw.
Here's the ticket seller.
RM 1 per entry here plus another RM 1 for port charges at the port entrance before this.
Yes , this is in Penang. Over the seas.
What a lovely cheerful dear she is.
But now this , reminds me of some funfair ticket lolz
Upon entering , the first thing that hits you is the smell of popcorn.
Next to the entrance itself , there's this simulator where you can try steering the ferry complete with switches and buttons .
This is where the adults get more excited than the kids.
Take a seat here for a very brief intro into how sales are conducted on the ship.
Bit of history on this wall
Book fair up ahead.
Baskets laid out here.
Prices are quite reasonable if you ask me. No one and a half hour of queueing to be found on this deck .
Didn't find anything I like but kids and kids parents might love it here.
Bargain hunter corner lies just before the cafe
Check out the angmo cashier
What we have here is called the Journey of Life.
No names attached or references towards plus you have the option to move on . It's a free world .
What have we here.
Fuyoooo.....this is what I call Malaysia. We will try to find some reason to sit and eat. Small cafe yet packed to the brim , more vibrant than the bookstore. In fact , when I see this , maybe they should enlarge their menu and dining space when they next sail in. Sure to profit with so many of my type of kindred minded people around.
On the other hand , most Malaysian kids aren't gluttons.
Not just yet. Not to worry , they went ballistic in this corner so you can dine in peace with them within eyeshot
Price list.
Ok lah. Not too much.
You're not getting the whole picture because we went for 4 ice creams , 2 Canadian coffees , 1 super duper yummy salty popcorn that tasted more addictive than it sounded.
This is just part of the booty. The red thingy is a shovel scoop which diners went gaga over.
So I heard they're sailing to Yangon after this
The 27th was their last day in Penang
To each and every one of the volunteers who spend 2 years of their lives on bunks like this , it was nice meeting you. Have a safe journey ahead .
Bon voyage !
Location : Swettenham Pier , Penang
