Trishaw chee cheong fun stall - where Indian customers outnumber the Chinese

Been searching high and low for this lady ,each time I was in KL and when I finally found her the other day , omg , I just wanted to give her a great big hug .

You see , the original operator was an old man , whom I presume was her Dad , and actually saw him training her to replace him many years ago. Obviously , he's done a good job as her chee cheong fun is still as authentic as days gone by .

The other thing is , this being Brickfields , you will find lots of local Indian customers making a beeline here and enjoying their food as if it was the best tosai in the world .
Except that this is a Chinese lady , dishing out a Malaysian Chinese breakfast staple , close to midnight , to a crowd of very enthusiastic , mostly Indian fans .
Ok . Read that again and let it sink in . If that is not amazing I don't know what is .

Never tried it before ?
Well just grab an enamel plate , use the thongs and take your pick .
She serves 2 types of chee cheong fun ...the rolled one , and the layered flat one . Simply let her know which one you prefer .
In case you don't know , chee cheong fun is like a kway teow , except that it is steamed and named after pig intestines.

Tell her if you want to eat it on the spot or do a takeaway . Next , also let her know if you want it with chilli sauce or just a sweet soy beanpaste sauce called " tim cheong " only .
She will add a dollop of oil and sesame seeds . You simply mix it together .

In comparison , Hong Kong chee cheong fun and Penang chee cheong fun are just so bare without all these glorious extras .
Take note that it can be quite stinky and is closer to the fishball products sold in Thailand .

And while I usually do not eat in , because I was so glad to finally find her , if you noticed that leng cheh ( the Penang weather does wonders ) perched on the plastic stool , shovelling through the huge pile of goodies like she was just released from prison , yeah , that was me .
