The humble sandwich got its name , when during the 18th century , an English nobleman , with that title deed itself ..the Earl of Sandwich , made his cook whip up a meal he could enjoy without ever having to leave the gambling table .
As bizarre as the birth of this ultimate lazy man's dish was mired in , the sandwich eventually became a globally recognised meal favourite anyone could make .
Fast forward a couple of centuries later , the founder of Planet Hollywood and the current Earl of Sandwich , set up a restaurant dedicated to the art of the great American sandwich .
And in the case of Planet Hollywood , it remains true to the spirit of the 4th Earl himself because heck , if he were alive , he would be delighted that this particular outlet is located right beside the casino floor !
Except that now , he ( probably ) has to line up , place an order , pay up and stare at the buzzer before he finally gets his foil wrapped sandwich .
As American as the names on the menu are , I found the taste to be rather British in essence . Much tastier than a Subway sub, but not better than a breakfast option at Starbucks .
Ultimately it is the convenience of a hot meal available till late and the amount of ingredients that will give you more bang for your buck .
Of the 2 different sandwiches I tried , I can tell you the bacon is good , the cheese too , it's served hot but that was it for me .
Found more fun in the warblers next door , screaming their lungs out like they were auditioning for American Idol .
For people trying their luck at the casino however , this is a godsend . Brilliant in fact . Not too expensive of a hot meal to rev you up again for another round .
Location : Planet Hollywood , Las Vegas
