People from China form the bulk of today's world traveller . Some of them , being extremely wealthy but quite naive , will inevitably be easy targets for crooks .
The thing is , these criminals cannot tell a Japanese , Korean , Thai , Mongolian , Vietnamese , Malaysian , Singaporean , Taiwanese or China citizen apart .
Because we all look like Chinese to them , we simply cannot sweep the problem under the carpet and think it won't happen to us , when we're all lumped in the same boat .

If you must go there , very frankly , I think you ought to shelve your plans . While luggage robberies at points of entry have been the norm in this city for a long time already . But being tear gassed just as you are loading your luggage onto the tour bus is unheard of ! Real cause for worry !
There was an earlier case where Chinese tourists were tailed from their hotel and robbed . How awful. As a damage control measure , the French government had reassured Beijing that preventive measures would be put in place to keep their tourists safe .
Now this . And yes like I said before , since they cannot tell us apart , before this latest teargas tactic , some Koreans and Japanese have been victims of robbery in the city too .
In the past , I have stayed for a week each in the 10th and 17th * arrondissement , but once I found out that pickpockets were targetting the Chinese , Paris was not worth losing my documents over .
Do not be mistaken that these crimes are committed by the gypsies .... some pickpockets look white , just as some aircabin thieves are yellow . Crime is not confined to a race but when a certain race is targetted , ask yourself if it is worth the trouble , pain , injury and heartache .
