Absolutely fake WhatsApp news on the weather in Penang 6.11.2017

This piece of news was spread over WhatsApp today . It caused almost everyone to stay away and not go out into the streets .
It spooked a lot of people out till plans were cancelled and they huddled indoors prepared for a battering .

How did I know that this was fake ?
I didn't but there were two reasons why I ignored this .

One .
Cause anytime our MET dept predicts bad weather , it turns out the other way .

Two .
I chose to trust my own judgement by looking up at the skies .

In the end , we had a breeze driving through Georgetown . It was so peaceful , we even found a nice parking lot at a popular hawker area in the heart of the inner city before enjoying a really quiet dinner under the skies .

So let's get down and examine roughly why this was so successful at keeping people off the streets .

1 . It was penned in such a way , that it looked like secret info was being given out to someone who was kind enough to pass it on to you !

2. They backed it up with an audio recording of a Mamak man , telling everyone to stay the hell away from the shore

3. People wanted to believe that the state government and the MET dept wanted to keep this news from them

4. They heightened the severity of the situation by telling you that they all planned to leave one to two hours earlier . Explains why there was a huge traffic jam at almost the same time . People were fleeing before the BIG ONE hit !

5. We're suckers for fake news and there will be no end to this if we keep on trusting them

It's now 10 pm . People are still not going out , while we just had a wonderful leisurely drive back without the usual horrible traffic clogged roads for once .
