Divine Bangkok river prawns

Yesterday night , we went back to this new place known for Teochew cuisine a second time . The first time was a miss but yesterday's garoupa was so darned out of this world , I actually forgot to take a picture and so regret that , but not to worry , we'll soon go back and hopefully you can see it for yourself . Things like this happen especially when I get startled . A wrong order to be exact . We were expecting soup and received something deep fried and tossed in black soy .

Anyway , the next closest ecstasy inducing eating experience , comparable to last night's deeeeeeeeeeelicious deep fried garoupa was this .....
Gulp !
Bangkok's grilled river prawns , from the other month ( whites of the eyes visible at this point ho yeah ) . Don't waste these succulent glorious treasures by drowning them in tomyam , plain grilled is the way to go .

Tastes like a mix between crab and prawn , flesh is tight and packed , they're huuuuuuuuugeeeee !!! oh man ....these .....you gotta hope they're in season when you fly into the kingdom !

After conversion , that plate above cost us around MYR 45 ( I always convert higher so I don't end up with a nasty surprise once I get home ) , which is a STEAL compared to the prices we get charged back home for such scrawny little things .
The operators here serve up , farmed specimens which affects the taste . And if you wanted something as big as the above with one caught from the wild , I think we'd have to prepare around MYR 200 and above for those few .
Don't you feel so cheated when that happens ? Even if you have the money to pay for it , it's downright exorbitant don't you think ?

In Bangkok , it was a matter of timing . In conjunction with the Chinese New Year , these little bazaar tents were set up in small dots scattered around the city .

And exactly what are the local lengluis eating ?
A type of noodle which looks like a yellow laksa which I did not try because those prawns sent me to heaven and I didn't want to come back down and try it . Not yet .
