Gajiwala Saree - so gorgeous !

When I went to India many years back , I followed the group of tourists into a saree shop recommended by a taxi driver .

So excited , we tumbled into the decrepit apartment building where the man showed us a few samples , yet the local Indians among us were not impressed by what he laid before them .

They were on the lookout for more conservative and traditional wear . You can imagine the shock , when they received a tongue lashing instead from the fella .
" Nobody wears these fashions anymore in India . This is grandmother fashion "
he declared very crossly to them .

Before that incident , as we were waiting for the monsoon rain to stop at the hotel lobby , we managed to annoy a bunch of Indian ladies from South Africa .

" Madam , what are you waiting for ? " she asked me in particular .

I told her that we were waiting for the rain to stop .

" It will never stop . You go now ! "

On her stern advice , we got the bellhop to hail a cab before we had a squealing helluva time getting soaked to the undies , cos even the cab seats were puddled !

As we were waiting she told me that she and her friends had rented a car and were intending to drive out to this place she referred to as
" The place where you can get all the latest Bollywood fashion sarees "
I actually forgot the name of the town but she mentioned that it was more than 100km from Mumbai , she was going to buy them to resell , as well as for her own personal use . But it was her dreamlike cooing that really made quite an impression on me .
There are great sarees , you just have to drive yourself there to get it at a better price back then .

Now it so happens that I spent the whole of yesterday and today looking through instagram pictures of sarees .

Smitten by the stunning almost fluorescent colour , I ended up with this lovely 3 piece set by Gajawali Saree company .

After purchasing , I found that I'd gotten a really good deal for it because , when you check online , some of these sarees are marked up sky high .

How much did I end up paying for something that some sites are charging up to RM688 for ?
Just RM170 and I bought it at a retail outlet .

Apparently tailoring charges differ and vary , from as low as RM50 upwards. Now , compare that to one boutique which quoted me RM350 to RM380 for one set of ready made Lengha Choli .
Sometimes buying online is not always the best choice because what you see on the catalogue could be heavily photoshopped till by the time it arrives to you in a parcel , you might end up crestfallen by what you see.

No such danger here . And cheaper too ! Did I really need this ? No. It was purchased on a whim cos I saw one lady look so stunning in red dancing saree and just couldn't get the image out of my head lol .
