118 Cafe - Chinese take on western food

When it comes to Chinese Western fare , I only patronise 5 6 operators on the island .

1. James Foo .

Used to .

However , I've just about had it with them ever since they upgraded at Precinct 10 . Stopped going for a few months already .

2. Green Island .

Near Sunshine Square .

Cordon bleu chicken . Touch and go depending on the chef and his mood .

Bit too far . Inconvenient parking 

( sometimes none )

3. Goodall cafe at Bagan Jermal . Used to be known as Godfather Italian now is just known as Italian .

Cheap but oily and the portion is very small . Love the cheap pasta though .

4. The fella in Sin Kim San ( near the wood fire pizza ) .  Chicken chop done Hainanese style !

Updated : 5 . Top secret new western place only locals know . Steakhouse standard , priced below 10 ringgit for this grilled chicken set below .

Sooooooooooooooooo good . Super excited , sorry can't share the location .

Loose some , gain some

Found myself a super a fierce dance teacher the other week and while the fat melted back off from my outer thighs and behind quite a bit , ah , I was inspired enough to begin tinkering with one thing I am no good at .

I can't bake . 

I can cook Chinese , stir fry , make complicated Nyonya curries , curry crab and prawns , a smattering of very simple Malay fish dishes ,but I simply cannot bake .

Neither can I deep fry . I can deep fry keropok and cucur, but that's it. 

Totally hopeless at deep fried chicken . Completely bad at baking .

Disturbing kopitiam operator trend in Penang

There is a very disturbing trend going on , in the Penang kopitiam scene these days .

Partly caused by the rising rental and council bylaws , restrictions and Unesco stipulations , 3 things , 3 trends , 3 after effects , are happening today .

This is so glaringly obvious and yet , the PCCC feel they need to conduct a study over why this is happening . Sometimes I really wonder if they ever live on the island or only dine in CRC and the like .

Reality Penang

It's not very often that I share a facebook page of an individual .

However what this person has recorded using a drone , is so now , that you have got to see for yourself , especially if you call yourself a Penangite but only come back ( I say come back because I actually live here , now , every day except when I am travelling )

, yeah but only come back once in a while .

What in the cloud is that ?

The weather right now is so cold due to the non stop rain , that I've made myself an instant Cup Noodle to keep myself warm . 

At the same time , I'm going through my stash of quick fire snapped pictures . You know , those you anyhow take , just to record the moment .
