( U ) Nasi Lemak 3+1, Jalan Lunas

Better known as the Edgecumbe Road Mamak, this is another all time favourite supper spot on Penang island.

Most people head here for the mee goreng which I will introduce you to later, but what exactly is Nasi Lemak 3 + 1 ?

It's actually prepacked nasi lemak with sambal and 3 main ingredients. Very popular up in the northern states but increasingly hard to find a decent version nowadays.
Contains a cut portion of hard boiled egg,a few ikan bilis also a small piece of deep fried kembong fish, all for only ...hold your breath now.... the absurdly low price of $1.20 only.

Pair it with the extremely spicy Teh Halia or ginger milk tea ($1.80).
This drink is extra special as the halia extract is made from brewing old ginger bulbs with sweet potatoes and syrup.
Effective if you have accumulated a lot of  'wind' in the body and you want to get rid of it.

Finally, the highlight of any meal here would definitely be his Mee Goreng biasa ($3.50 to $4.50 depending on what extras you add on) a bestseller that many are hopelessly addicted to.
Fried with garlic, onions, egg, sambal, cabbage and ayam goreng cekor, approach this dish with caution because it belongs to the pedas giler/ lunatic hot category, that is incredibly mouthwatering, nevertheless.

Location : Jalan Lunas

Directions : head towards the direction of CRC from Midlands shopping complex, look for a small Shell station on your right at the end of Jalan Burma, keep left till you see Pakma hawker centre and later Coconut Palms restaurant , it is the lane just beside that bungalow.
