Shirley's Nyonya Place -" What in the...?" ( NH )

Update :
The noodle stall below has ceased operations. In their place are others selling stuff I don't even feel like trying out.
In fact we're all a little suspicious of new operators who shouldn't even be given the licence to cook.
So, in the meantime, you're on your own to venture into this unchartered territory.

Earlier post :

Brace yourself, you might be distressed to know, that the old lunchtime Nasi Melayu stall is no more here .
So were we, but curiosity got the better of us and we decided to come at night, to give this newly refurbished shoplot a try.

But wait a minute....how come no one seems to be going for the Nyonya food ?
There's a bowl of seafood noodles on every table.

Headed to the front portion of the shop, and discovered , that the chef with the misai, and another lady, came over from Lok Soke seafood chu char stall, in Gurney Drive.
There's a fresh selection of seafood and ingredients and this is what I ended up with.
Superb deep fried fish in a clear tomyam like broth with kiam chye ( my request) thrown in.
Very, very nice in the sourish, refreshing kind of way.

Seeing that we used to trust her interesting suggestions, he ended up with this.
" What in the world ????"
" Why so many bubbles ???"
" What did you order ???"
He shrugged his shoulders....
Confirm, my Penang kia other half's hokkien is half past six.

Closer inspection revealed that it was
Yam ( yes really, the tuber) seafood soup.
Ok, capital weird, I mean, it tastes like bubur chacha with fish. I mean, the yam was tasty, but err...hmm....takes a lot of getting used to. Still, he whacked it to the last drop and actually said it was quite nice.

Our sole order from the Nyonya restaurant at the back arrived.
Um....you look and you tell me, what you think of this Otak when even the plate is shedding one droplet.
Man...

Hokeh....I got greedy.
This extra order here's entirely my fault .
Couldn't get enough of the pork balls and deep fried fish.
The nice lady told us to take a tomyam soup, this time.
Um, bear in mind that the soup version is chinese tomyam....not thai tomyam, not penang thai tomyam, not haadyai tomyam.
Get my drift ?

Really think that they should capitalise on their balls.
(Oops...sounds so bad, eh ?)
Have yet to find such well endowed and juicy ones anywhere else....( except on... )

Location : Macalister Road

Directions : Red Rock Hotel on your left, look out for a petrol station on your right. The shop is before the petrol station. On the same side as Red Rock Hotel.
