Thaipusam and the phenomenon of Chinese devotees

This is the road leading to 3 of the most important Hindu temples on Penang island .
The Sri Muneeswaran shrine, Natukkottai Chettiar temple and the beautiful Hilltop temple .

In Penang, it is nothing out of the ordinary to witness lots of Chinese devotees paying homage to Hindu gods on a daily basis.

More so during the Thaipusam festival, where entire families come out in full force to show their gratitude or ask for blessings.

They make their presence felt

...waiting patiently for the charriots to pass them by

...sparing no expense, so they can undertake the task of breaking so many coconuts.

If properly promoted, both the Hilltop temple ( known for miracles ) and the Sri Muneeswaran shrine ( known for granting wishes ) , has the potential to draw an international crowd like the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok.
Hope I'll be around long enough to see that happen one day.
