Did you know that there are 3 Yu Char Kwai sellers, in this area alone ? Must mean, it's either one heck of a popular snack or it's really good. Standard
price here is 80sen for a huge, gigantic, filling stick.
Each stall has a slightly
different recipe, but the one you see below....
.....is like a mini factory on a table top, with many workers in the background .
So popular, you actually have to wait for the next batch, after 8.30 pm as they sell out extremely fast.
( Personally, I prefer the ones sold at a quieter stall near a soya bean seller )
There are so many choices, it's not easy embarking on a food hunt.
Cheap, simple , char bee hoon perhaps ?
Look at what else she's offering. Chang, dried sausages, etc etc....
Volume of noodles she's got there shows she's definitely enjoying good business .
If you're looking for dessert , there are 2 or 3 sellers selling a wide array of kueh .
This fellow, in comparison, sells Muar Chee only .
Slow and steady, does his loyal customers trickle in .
Mamak style Nasi lemak.
Seller is not mamak but Chinese.
Happens a lot over here.
The ultimate in the mamak trend , is this Chinese lady.
She fries mamak style Mee Goreng ...non stop .
So, so popular.
If you haven't noticed, almost every stall here, has very good business.
The popiah stall is no exception.
Finally settled on Hokkien Mee with the fullworks .
Huge fishballs. Whole small prawns. Huge portion. So many extras. Dig in, it's cheap !
Totally world's apart, from Penang island, in terms of taste. Leans more towards Mee Yoke . Just didn't fancy the belly fat as it had some strong porky smell, on it.
Hokkien mee seller . Big boy.
No " tai wan siao" portion guaranteed when you spot sellers of this build.
