Cab Western Food, Bagan Jermal ( PF )

Kindly take note that I no longer recommend this place.
However you are most welcome to try it out for yourself and see why I have done an about turn

-----------------

If you've sworn allegiance to James Foo Western and you're only coming in here to give it a try, partially because it resembles their customer clogged outlet in Fettes Park, it's best you turn back.

The food they serve here is to my utter surprise.... hotel standard fare, going back to the good old days when hotel food used to be good ... never lousy.
At half the prices, of course, expect to see customers of this kind sitting with one leg tucked up on the chair

Wild Mushroom soup.
Not as rich as the ones sold in Renaissance in KL nor Concorde Inn at Sepang but  for RM $ 6.90 my mouth is zipped shut .
There's a heck of a lot of mushrooms inside.
Really tempted to lick it clean to the last drop . The breadstick however, has been exposed to the air for too long and that makes it unsuitable for snacking on. Ok for dipping into your soup, not advisable to munch on it.

Grilled fish with Lemon Butter capers (RM $11.90 ) .
Delightful from start to finish.

Roast stuffed chicken with mushroom duxelle ( RM $17.90 ) .
Madly addictive sauce.
Chicken is a little on the dry side and under salted, but the robust fragrance with delectable dashes of liquor from the sauce and rosemary rubbed into the meat, is a satisfying meal that uplifts your senses .
They took time to pay attention to the little details, making sure the vegies on the side were more than palatable.
Really enjoyed this .

Spaghetti Bolognaise (RM $11.90 ).
Loaded with minced chicken meat, and springy pasta.
Standard, acceptable taste.

American chocolate cake ( RM $ 8.90 ) .
As good as the ones sold in Traders Hotel in Penang Road. A truly sinful portion which is unforgiving on the figure but who cares when it tastes so damn good !

Location : Jalan Bagan Jermal, Penang
Directions : from Georgetown City Hotel, walk upwards past Adventist Hospital. You will come to a traffic light junction, the shop is opposite, inside a  one story bungalow

Ah ... next time I go to Penang, I have a good idea of what else to eat apart from nasi kandar.

Hee!
