Basically, what's spreading around town now, spoken in hushed tones in some quarters, attracting the punters attention, is that the deceased was granted a windfall, on the eve of his death.
All of which would not have happened if he had not initially caught a crab, which somehow managed to escape, only to be recaptured a second time within the vicinity of a Dato Kong shrine at the Lim Jetty.
Based on the unusual circumstances of the incident, he put two and two together, bought a set of winning numbers and struck the jackpot !

Known as a guardian spirit, of the land, honestly, your guess is as good as mine as to whether the crab, had sought refuge and protection to spare its life, yet tragically ( so said ) ended up on the dining table.
The scariest part of the whole story is that in Chinese, crab denotes windfall or luck, but then this time, it literally meant, that the Wind came and the antenna Fell ! pummeling the unfortunate soul to such a depth, his body could never be retrieved again.

Partly one of the reasons why, most Malaysian Chinese are careful not to incur the wrath or offend, of the any of the many Datuks of the land, ever mindful of their manners, respectful in their conduct, aware of the repercussions of not sticking to halal diet even , when in their territory.
Some people may deem this as daft, but , there are things beyond our realm, comprehension and faith, that we may never fully understand

這則在這一兩天內幾乎傳遍檳島各角落，甚至是北馬的故事，其說法是這樣的：林振益在遇難前一天，吃了一隻逃跑到拿督公神位前螃蟹，並以千字圖螃蟹的000千字，前面加上1隻螃蟹的1，成為1000開中了萬能的萬字頭獎。
市面上言之鑿鑿，指林振益發了一筆橫財之後的次日傍晚（13日），便在風災中遭遇天降橫禍，被檳巫統大廈的柱型結構連人帶車撞擊進入地下，最後遺體找不到，只找到碎得不能成形的汽車殘骸。
風災慘劇不久後，市面上便盛傳這個慘劇背後的拿督公螃蟹真字聊齋故事，而且在眾人口口相傳下，此故事設迅速傳開。
有人說林振益獲得現金獎3萬令吉，有人說他中了10萬令吉獎金，更有人說多達30萬令吉。
