BOH Sungai Palas Tea Centre

Had initially intended, to go check out the Mossy Forest but the colonial era road just made my knees buckle. One slip and we were goners . So down, we trundled towards the tea plantation, not expecting much. Took some pics amongst the beautiful flowering trees and tea shrubs and entertained thoughts of turning back, until these kids make their way past , like they'd just had the time of their lives.

Curious, we followed the road till we came to a grit covered carpark .Heck, I'd seen this place before on a blog. Can't remember which blog by which blogger, but there it was right before my eyes ! It's amazing !
The weather was fine, so let's take the tea pickers trail upwards !

This being the holiday season, never expect a short queue .

It was good to see locals in employment. Quality assured . What a relief.

10 minutes of standing in line, watering at the goodies, wondering which to choose from.
Light snacks . Nothing too heavy.

Our order consisted of Butter cake ( ok ), firecracker ( spicy sausage pastry, ok ) , sardine puff ( yum ) , shrimp puff ( dried sambal shrimp inside, yum ! )

Truth is, I'm a huge fan of teh tarik. But what I've had so far just can never match this exquisite tasting cuppa !

Been such a long time since I've had this version of sardine puff !
That's a ice lemon lime tea in the back

Most visitors try to sit in the open air veranda overlooking the rolling hills . Still it's ok to sit anywhere else because the open window concept allows all diners to enjoy the cool, hill breeze .

It's a steep way back down but we leave filled with good memories. It's things like this that makes Cameron Highlands a firm favourite amongst the locals despite the massive jams during festive periods and major holidays.

Location : Sungai Palas, Cameron Highlands

Directions : look out for the Gunung Brinchang signboard and turn in. If you're driving, please bear in mind that the narrow winding road goes two ways. So honk once as you're approaching corners or move to one side if the road only allows one way through at certain sections .
