Of Medusa Heads and the Tear Pillar at the Basillica Cistern

At first I presumed that this was the entrance to the cistern.

But I was wrong... it's at the back street , next to it.

Purchased our tickets at the booth.

Few steps down and oh yes, this place is a Bond fan's dream come true bebeh...

Had to walk carefully cos the floor is a bit wet and slippery.

Looked out for the white carps in the waters below .

Pussyfooted my way past this photobooth with salespeople that look like apparitions in the dark.

Another example of why I should really lug a better camera around. Epic...just so epic...

So anyway, I was making my way to the Medusa Head when I discover, that there is such a thing called the Tear Pillar in here

Jeepers.....really looks like eyes that are crying.

 Nearby lay the Wish Pool

As you can see, lots of coins to be found here

Back on track to what initially drew me to these depths

There's not just one head , there are 2 altogether.
This one's been turned to the side.....

...while the other, upside down.
The heads are believed to be able to protect this area because well, you know what she's capable of.

Was such a fantastic out of this world experience to be able to get this close ( no, I didn't dare touch )
