Been putting off trying this famous stall for some time already. However due to a disastrous food hunt, one thing led to another and we ended up here.
Crowd of diners consists of a nice mix of diehard Chinese and Malay fans.
Start off by telling them whether you intend to eat in or takeaway. Then point out the ingredients you fancy.
If you ask the locals, they'll say this is the best in the world. What about me ? Read on...
Loved the boiled ladies fingers. They took care to select young tender stalks for their customers. Nice.
Absolutely hated the ayam madu. Hard and sweet.
Wish they'd cooked the squid with more spice and less sugar. Had a very nice thick and chewy texture to it.
Most dishes here contain more sugar than is acceptable for me. Like Kelantanese cuisine, I guess on the overall, I find it most unpalatable.
The Nasi Lemak Royale, tastes like a cross between chicken rice and light nasi tomato .Weeee- irddddd. Cannot get used to this.
Totally hated the kuah campur ( curry sauce mix ) on the basis that it's full of sugar. Ugh. Could not finish my plate.
Deep fried chicken with a heaped serving of cabbages fried with light turmeric and spices. Loved the cabbage. Very old school recipe. Better than all those found in Kandar shops in Penang.
Fried chicken ? Meh....
That black lump there on the right, is a piece of fried chicken liver.
First time eating this. Loved it.
Although certain kandar shops offer this in Penang, it is always sold out.
Squid tastes like the soaked brown squid, beef ok, no complaints.
Just for fun, I took a general concensus among us.
" will you come back for this ? "
No they said.
Me, maybe , a very remote maybe only.
