Soon it was time to disembark from the bus and get onto a boat for our lunch. Got ready the sickness band but there was really no need for that, this boat is incredibly stable ! No matter how prone to seasickness you are, you won't be sharing your lunch with the seagulls, that's for sure.
They herded us up to Level 2 and by the time everyone sat down, I noticed that this cruise is popular amongst senior citizens and orientals like us. Only one family dressed up for the Boxing Day occasion, the rest were casually attired . Which is a shame actually since this company can get you nearest to the starting line of the Sydney to Hobart yatcht race , but I'll just show you lunch for now and cover that topic in another post.
No sooner are we seated, the food begins to come out . Laid out buffet style on both ends of the ship, waaaa there's ...raw oysters ! Definitely want this ! In fact, that's what most people went for.
Crabs, mussels ....
There were other cooked foods and salads ( nothing oriental or asian mind you ) , but I was more interested in the seafood
Scampi. Served cold , European style.
I gave it a go and still don't 'get' this dish.
Any suggestions where to go for this ?
( no I did not Vaseline my lens )
Our M.C. for the duration of the cruise. The little old dear made me feel like we were on a rerun of The Love Boat.
She gave out a lot of info but it was hard to concentrate while trying to eat and look left and right at the same time.
Second helping. Omitted the scampi and fish this time. Crab was out of the question, just too messy to wrestle with
Raw oysters and boiled mussels scored with me.
To cap off the meal, we had some cake.Don't miss out on this. The Aussies simply make the best cakes in the world which makes you levitate a little , even on a touristy cruise such as this.
