We ordered a pizza out of obligation to the dear teen.
When it arrived, he moaned
" Their pizzas have shrunken. Also, where are all the ingredients ? "
We ignored him and took a slice out .
Fuuuuhhhh.....we tried but the mozarella string was simply longer than the Penang Bridge cable and in the end we had to use a fork to cut it. Else we'd have to stand on a ladder just to get it to break off ! The ingredients though rather sparse looked bare because the entire pizza was laden with sinful, puffy buffalo mozarella cheese .
It tasted like Turkish mozarella to me but the owner who so happened to be in, stopped at our table and raved that they'd managed to convince the supplier of Italian buffalo mozarella cheese to channel some of the good stuff to their two outlets instead . You see, just down the entrance to Batu Feringghi is a very teratas establishment who gets their buffalo mozarella supply from that supplier . And because he is particular about his clientele not being any Ah Too and Ah Kau, he actually inspected their premise before agreeing to give them the stock ! My goodness, what goes on behind the scenes !
Anyway , the ingredients did indeed prove to be not too many but the heavenly cheese more than made up for it.
But by the time we reached the thin crust underneath,
the verdict was unanimous. The base is exquisitely aromatic and very middle eastern .
You must, you must , you must, try their breads once because as I rightly suspected, they have a new breadman in the kitchen and he is excellent, excellent , excellent.
Actually, we were here for the family platter , which costs MYR 120 tax not included. So, I never ever expected to be blown away by their outwardly dimunitive looking pizza.
That pizza above costs just MYR 26 and for me to start going gaga over a less expensive meal must mean it is no less extravagant.
The other new change since we last ate here.
They now have 1 new middle eastern waiter who convey our specific instructions to the kitchen so well. Now I like that.
I like the fact that they take our specific instructions seriously . Scores big marks with me.
And the usher outside is a new guy too. Middle eastern as well, though I didn't ask from where. Believe me, that guy can speak Beijing mandarin because according to him, he lived there for 5 years !
Bill time.
