White Sugar Seafood - Sungai Petani

There are pockets full of Penangites who have set up businesses in Kedah and this place is one of
 them .

Yam basket.
Visually pleasing with crunchy , tasty vegies nestled inside , frankly I have not seen vermicelli being presented this way in a really long time . Nor the lettuce underneath because I rarely ever eat out at the higher category of Chinese restaurants because of the following reasons
1. The pricey price obviously
 2. The deafening noise level

The vegies were pretty awesome but unlike Hooi Wang in Bukit Mertajam , the yam basket itself, had a coat of flour that was too gluten-ish for my liking.

Water convolvulus with sambal belacan and shrimps. Crunchy but rapidly deteriorates in colour ( turns a darker shade ) and taste ( gets slimier and sharper, the darker it goes )  both from the heat difference and fermentation effect from the krill block .
Eat this fast to prevent that from happening.

Huge "ang cho" fish of this size on Penang island would be worth 2 Nando's whole birds !
It's so , so cheap and yet still so exceptionally fresh here  , I can see why those who live in SP ( short for Sungai Petani ) never want to leave lol.
Really delicious sauce poured onto the deep fried fish. Great dish....we lapped everything up !

While these deep fried lotus roots are their speciality , we might have given it a pass today but if we ever return , I definitely wanna give it a try .
