Malaysian fireman handles a King Cobra

When I first saw this picture over facebook , I almost keeled over .
Check out the size of the head on this slithering creature !

The handler is a Malaysian fireman and these pictures are lifted from the fire department's facebook page . Hope they don't mind but this too crazy not to share !

This particular King Cobra must have eaten a whole lot of snakes for it to grow this huge !
While it looks docile , you should never take it for granted as it has one kind of mood and has been known to kill even experienced snake charmers  who have been rearing them for years .

This massive fellow was caught in Langkawi but one can also occasionally come across it on Penang island . So please exercise caution should you ever decide to hike towards the National Park or lesser trekked trails and hills .
While it does not usually attack humans , the striking range is further than you and I both expect , plus if there is a female nesting , the male will be super aggressive and if you do not turn tail and move off then Sayonara bye - bye lor .

I've personally seen one in real life when the Raja Ular ( a famous snake charmer who lived in Tg Tokong ) was alive .
He used to play with it on the road and I even caught his show once in Prangin Mall . Unfortunately he met with his end after getting bitten by one of the King Cobras under his care .

Like I said , no matter how tame they look , they're known to be moody and will strike even if you have been rearing them for years .

Best to leave them be and allow them to do their job which is to eat other snakes right ?
