Steamed delights are getting harder to find

There are so many coffee and cake outlets in Georgetown these days that I really wonder if the operators want us to switch our diet completely .

Steamed dim sum delights such as this dumpling stuffed with pounded peanut and sugar , encased in a pandanus leaf , are rare sights indeed .

One cannot even get to bite into a decent Daibao without getting a splitting headache ( from use of too much msg ) or sick and quezy ( because the operators are using gutter oil )

That's why I come here for my fix. Real early .

And because of the timing , we managed to get 2 saucers of the bottom most dimsum ....
which I never even knew existed before , after all these years of patronising them ! ( it was really , really tasty ! )

Anyway , over the weekend , some hawkers have lamented a drop in sales . They said they did not expect it .

If not due to the heat , there could be other factors . Such as a huge foreign workforce that doesn't find our local food palatable , for example .

With the young ones insisting on opening coffee outlets with prices that burn a hole in your budget , while the old kopitiams struggle to keep going ...it is only a matter of time , before we run out of all the delightful options we used to nibble on and have to eat cake , day in, day out  . Only .

Sheesh .
