The Cruises - beef steak

Trying to get a good steak in Penang these days , seems to be an almost impossible feat .
Thus , even though I'd heard good feedback about this place , I still had my reservations . Anyway , I need my red meat .....it's driving me crazy , that's why we're finally taking the plunge here come what may .

Very frankly , I don't like the mish mash set up ( mix and match tables and chairs ) but the waitress is such a sweetie pie , you can just keep looking at her flitting around chirpily before you get down to the business of eating .

Kiddo went for the rib eye .
Medium to well , turned out to be more of a New York style steak , bit dry yet still juicy on the inside but not too runny for a river of blood to trickle out and spoil the appetite.
What I did not like were the vegies. Someone please tell them to stop coating them in a sugar syrup .
Otherwise , this meal would have been great .

I went for the sizzling rib eye steak.
Not bad . And thank goodness , it arrives still sizzling like it should be.
Except for the fact that once again , I had to
push all the vegies to one side as I tried my best to lap up the sauce .

He , on the other hand , settled for a chicken , lamb and beef combo.
The sheer size of each portion of meat came as a shock .
And at such a low price too , I wonder how they do it .
Fantastic sauces on the side ....the black pepper sauce is fiery and the white sauce has a deliciously addictive touch of deep fried garlic .
Light brown sauce was just ok , didn't like the chicken though he did seem to enjoy it .

In conclusion , if you used to be a patron of the old ( I say old because nowadays , they have sunk to terrible lows )
The Ship , Eden , Strawberry Fields ( Subang Parade branch ) , Castell , Victoria Station , this is somewhere you will find most agreeable .
In fact , if I used to have to depend on saikoro steak cubes for my steak fix , I can now go for a full slab at a much more reasonable price than a Japanese restaurant would permit .

So glad we tried this out . Even though I do not like the vegies one bit , I will be back for more steak and when I'm in the mood , maybe give their jumbo prawn and lobster a go too .

Location : Logan Heritage , Penang
